FINAL WEEK! The Duke Read-a-thon is in the home stretch. Still time to join in the fun!
PLEDGES are due between Sun Dec 13 and Wed Dec 16 @ noon via schoolcashonline. Please submit a Read-a-thon form once you submit your pledges (RT Form google form).
There will be a celebration of the event, on Wed Dec 16 @ 2pm so please get your RT Form in so we can total minutes read by the whole school and allow us to see if we reached our fundraising goal.
In lieu of the Giving Tree, Duke usually does at this time of year, we are instead sharing the proceeds of our fundraiser. Please consider contributing to the Read-a-thon to support this community effort.
The funds raised will be used to purchase devices for Duke classrooms (75%) and 25% shared with another school in our community.
In recognition of Indigenous Awareness month check out this inspiring
list of books by Indigenous writers. (list here). We also recognize Transgender Awareness week and here are some excellent reading resources. (https://pflag.org/transkidsbooks)

Does your family enjoy Pizza Pizza? Perfect as a stocking stuffer or holiday gift!!
Due to Covid-19 causing Duke's early closure in the spring, the school's pizza lunches were put on hold indefinitely. SAC has a surplus of Pizza Pizza gift cards pre-purchased to pay for those lunches. Please help us convert pizza into dough ($), by purchasing a gift card. This will free up $4900 for SAC to put to great use this school year.
To place your Pizza Card order, choose your amount ($20 and up) and email: dukepizzalunch@yahoo.com
Your order can be delivered to you digitally (card code and pin provided by text/email) or a physical card to your mailbox.
Payment is via TDSB School Cash Online (please email before you make a payment)
It is first come; first serve until we sell out.
Recipes in a Jar
Our Recipes in a Jar fundraiser has launched and ends on Sunday November 22. These yummy jars are made by a Canadian-owned social enterprise and make a unique gift or are perfect for your personal stockpile! Funds raised will support teacher appreciation activities at Duke, and every jar sold also means a donation to the Glen Rhodes Food Bank.
